Password Protection & Other Stuff

Starting with future releases, all archives will be password protected. This security measure is mainly to address two issues that many people have reported in the past:

1. Prevent hosters from deleting the files because of its content.
2. Prevent users' security suites (anitvirus/antimalware) from removing or preventing the download of the files. This is the main problem that many people have reported.

The password will be random and unique for each release and it will be indicated in the post.

I know that these issues are not new for many people and that others may find annoying to have to enter a password or remember it in order to open the archive later, but it's the only way to avoid the aforementioned problems.

Archive comments will not be visible by default in public releases, because that would make the file names within the archive visible too, which is also not good. This is mainly to avoid detection of content by filenames, as many hosters and antivirus software simply by detecting words like "Keygen" or "Patch" in filenames, delete the files (or identify them as as threat).

Private releases will have archive comments visible for obvious reasons (since there will be no post to indicate the password).

Thanks for your understanding.

Moving on, something else I wanted to announce is the inclusion of the names of my Ko-fi supporters in the credits of the next releases/updates. It may not be something as important as the above, but I believe that it is a detail in consideration of their support, without which I could not fully dedicate myself to this activity these days. Thanks to them. 👍

That's all for now. Take care you all folks.

Regards.
